DEVICES FOR EXTINGUISHING LITHIUM BATTERIES

Lithium battery fires reach very high temperatures (up to +3000°C) in contrast to fires of ordinary substances. Conventional extinguishing agents are therefore not very effective, they decompose quickly.

Extinguishers for extinguishing lithium battery fires

Currently, it is a very effective AVD mixture. It is an aqueous dispersion of chemically exfoliated vermiculite. It is applied to lithium battery fires in the form of fog. Vermiculite is in the form of multi-layered flakes containing water.

What is the principle of extinguishing?

A mist of vermiculite flakes forms a film on the surface of the burning substance. The layer of extinguishing agent dries up at high temperatures and prevents access of oxygen. At the same time, the combustible is cooled by water evaporation. This process brings the fire under control and extinguishes it.
