The special powder fire extinguisher is suitable for extinguishing class D fires (metal fires) according to DIN EN2. e.g. fires of alkali metals (lithium, potassium, sodium), light metals (aluminium, magnesium and their alloys), calcium and zinc. Its effective extinguishing agents are alkali chlorides. Organic additives allow the powder to cover the surface of the combustible metal to which it adheres instantly, preventing air from entering.
With a fire extinguisher, only a starting fire can be extinguished. For early detection of fire we recommend installing a fire alarm. If you wake up with heat or smoke from a fire, or if a fire occurs undetected on another floor in a distant room, usually it is too late to save your property or even your life. In 2015, firefighters intervened in 20,232 fires, of which 115 people died, 1,449 were injured and the total damage was over € 1 million.
